Niamh Lalor heads the group, with a practice covering AIFMD and other regulations governing the operation of funds, fund structuring and capital raising. Emily Haithwaite is a private equity specialist, assisting clients from launch to liquidation, while Sophie Reguengo assists real estate-focused funds with both structuring and transactional matters. In addition to advising fund managers on regulatory issues, Matt McManus is able to oversee the structuring of co-investment structures and joint ventures. Alexandra O’Grady, who made partner in June 2025, has expertise in helping with the launch of both closed and open-ended investment structures.

Appleby‘s funds team is engaged across the life cycle of investment structures, advising sponsors and managers on the structuring and launch of new vehicles, the restructuring of existing funds and also acting for both lenders and borrowers in fund financing matters. Practice head Andrew Weaver is an expert in the set-up of an array of fund structures, ranging from partnerships to unit trusts and targeting asset classes including real estate and private equity. Made partner in October 2024, Paul Worsnop handles fund formations and utilises his tech sector background to assist clients targeting this space. Christopher Reed arrived from Walkers in January 2025, bringing expertise in sovereign wealth, private equity and VC funds, while July 2025 saw Tim Morgan, formerly of Maples Group, join the team, adding further fund structuring and regulatory specialisation.

Bedell Cristin oversees the structuring of vehicles ranging from typical investment funds to co-investment vehicles and joint ventures, among others, in addition to guiding fund sponsors and managers through Jersey’s regulatory and AML regimes. The team has particular expertise in assisting real estate investors, many of whom rely on practice head Martin Paul for assistance with transactions, financings, and structuring matters. Richard Le Liard‘s practice centres on private equity and venture capital, offering expertise on the launch of funds and establishment of fund managers, in addition to advising on AML/CFT compliance and tax matters.

Leading the team is Jonathan Heaney, managing partner of the firm’s Jersey office and a specialist in the setup of a variety of fund structures.
